What is Love?

What is Love?

What is love? Is it a feeling, an emotion or something else entirely? Love is one of the hardest subjects as a teen. And even adults struggle with it. Many times I find myself looking up the meaning love. A few days ago I looked up in a dictionary online the definition of love. There where a few options though the first option said this 'An intense feeling of deep affection' this one sentence can mean a bunch of things but the main three are these...

  1. The love toward a mum, dad or siblings
  2. A romantic feeling or affection
  3. Or a great pleasure in something like a soccer ball or phone

Now I think this sums it up pretty well. but the problem with this world is they forget to add what god thinks about love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 says 'love is patient, love is kind. it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. it does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. love never fails.' that pretty much sums up love. love Is very important and one of the most important virtues of a Christian and I believe its very important to non-christians too, in 1 corinthians 13:13 it says ' And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. but the greatest of these is love.' so in those exact words it says love is the most important.

I plan to do another post for teens on romantic feelings and romantic love, mainly for teens but I think its very important for adults too. I think it's very important to have ideas to back up your beliefs. And who knows maybe if you are a mother with a teen daughter it may be of use to you.

but in till then I will leave you with this challenge; in Luke 6:31 'treat others the same way you want them to be treat you.'
