Obedient always???

Obedient always???

Today I was doing my morning bible reading and I came across a bible passage in Titus 2:9. This is what it says, "Encourage bondservants to be obedient to their own masters, to be well pleasing in all things, not answering back." After I had read this passage a new question came into my mind. Should we always obey our masters? In this passage it said bondservants. Yes, we may not be bondservants but we are servants in many other ways. I think in this passage Paul is not just talking about bondservants I think he is speaking to all of us! You may not be a bondservant but you may have a job or have someone with higher authority than you. But let's just say we have a job to make it a bit easier. When you get a job isn't your job to do all your boss tells you too? If this is so doesn't that mean in the passage it is also talking about workers obeying their bosses?

Going back, like I said before, when I read this passage a question came to mind and I started pondering my question. In Titus 2:9 it says we should obey and never answer back to our masters. But as I thought about it that didn't really answer my question. How was I supposed to always obey? As my mind thought of excuses a new thought came to mind. What if my boss asked of me something that I knew was wrong? As an example what happened if your boss asked you to lie to a customer and say they needed to pay for the mess they made on their table. Should you obey? Now I'm not saying it will happen, but I am saying it is a possibility. So with these thoughts I began my search to find myself an answer.

Finally after searching a bit through my bible, my eyes enlightened on a verse, Acts 5:29 which says this "but Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than men." After reading this verse, I realised I had found my answer. God was our first priority and the words of my Father came into mind; God, Others, Ourself. Which really only means God should be our first authority and then our masters and parents, and then ourselves. But also remembering to be servants to all just like the Lord tells us in Mark 9:35 "Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all." So with this in mind, I believe that we should obey our bosses and masters. But if what they say ever goes against our conscience or what God says, then we should respectfully say "no" and explain why we cannot do it. So that we obey the Lord and still stay respectful and obedient to our bosses or masters.

So in conclusion, we must always remember to be obedient to our earthly masters, and never forget that God is an even higher authority than those on earth!

If you do not agree on all of my thoughts, then that is fine. I would encourage you to dive through the bible or google bible verses about this topic to help you build your beliefs. Like I have said in my last posts I believe everyone should have a right to make their own beliefs. I am open to everyone's ideas and thoughts and would be grateful to any of you who have any thoughts or comments. God bless.
